My philosophy of eating evolved into using fresh, local foods whenever possible, incorporating lean proteins, healthy fats, and little non-starchy vegetables. I started making new recipes  and experimenting in the kitchen. I don’t think being diabetic is a burden, think of it as nurturing your body to a healthier lifestyle.  My diet is not perfect.  Sometimes  I have cravings for chips. I keep track of what I eat (three meals a day at regular meal times)  and how often I exercise. My calorie intake is about 1500 and I monitor my blood glucose and weight.
