We all have different aspirations in life but what we have in common is that we want to be happy and healthy. We all want to lead good, long lives and fulfill our dreams. To achieve this, we need to take care of ourselves and of our brains.

In order to keep our brains healthy and strong, we need to pay attention to what we feed ourselves. Food does not only shape and fuel our bodies, it also shapes and fuels our way of thinking.

We become aware of how important food is when we think about our cravings. We never crave a salad after a break up and we don’t want a cup of herbal tea when we need energy. A broken heart heals with ice-cream while coffee will provide the energy we need. It shows that our mood and thinking is connected to what we eat.

Protein (eggs, tofu, poultry, etc.), fruits and vegetables (dark leafy greens, broccoli and oranges are high in vitamin B), fibers (oats, beans, peas, etc.), they will provide your brain with everything it needs to be happy. Fresh, whole foods rich in nutrients will fuel your brain into productivity.

What we eat is not the only important part. When and how much matter too. Eating at regular hours gives our brains a sense of security. It knows that although we may be hungry now, we will receive food soon. How much we eat is important not only because of calories, but because of the digestive process. Eating too much can make us feel tired and uncomfortable because we use a lot of energy to digest food. Another very important aspect are the habits we form. Good eating habits like eating at regular hours, eliminating fast-foods, mindful eating, they contribute to our wellness.

By nourishing our bodies, we nourish our brains. Healthy brains are brains that are creative, innovative and productive. With small, smart changes to our eating habits, we can improve our moods and become better thinkers. Our brains thrive on fresh, high quality foods. Making intelligent choices by offering it the nutrients it needs will bring wonderful results: we can become a better, happier, smarter version of ourselves.
